Repair or Replace? Troubleshooting Your HVAC Issues

AC Troubleshooting

  1. Check the settings on your thermostat. Make sure the temperature is set below the current room temperature. Make sure the system switch is on the Cool or Auto position.
  2. Lower the thermostat to a lower temperature setting to try to turn the AC unit on.
  3. Make sure your thermostat does not require new battery(s).
  4. Make sure all registers are open and not obstructed.
  5. If the air flow from your registers is low, check to make sure the air filter is not extremely dirty. This can block air flow.
  6. Check the power disconnect switch by each unit (indoor and outdoor).

  2. Raise the thermostat to a higher temperature setting to try to turn the furnace on.
  3. Make sure your thermostat does not require new battery(s).
  4. Make sure all registers are open and not obstructed.
  5. If the air flow from your registers is low, check to make sure the air filter is not extremely dirty. This can block air flow.
  6. Check the power disconnect switch by the furnace.
